For several years, Pépinières Guillaume has been participating in
research programs on viral premunition against
grapevine fanleaf virus. This work involves studying hypo-virulent strains of
GFLV (Grapevine Fanleaf Virus) capable of conferring greater
tolerance to viral infection.
In trials conducted to date, plants derived from these protocols
have demonstrated an ability to maintain adequate production in
conditions where conventional plants would rapidly decline.
Within the strict framework of current phytosanitary regulations,
the use of plant material carrying a viral strain (even
a hypo-virulent one) is restricted to experimental settings or to
programs supervised by the competent authorities.
Since it carries a viral strain, this type of plant must be
strictly reserved for replacing vines in areas infected
with grapevine fanleaf virus.
